Summer Camp
Some children make excellent progress throughout the school year only to regress during the summer
months. Summer camp is an excellent way to keep your child talking! Most are day camps during the
weekdays where the child is not required to stay overnight. This is a fun way for them to interact with peers or
meet new kids as they maintain the social skills they have learned. Camp is a more relaxed atmosphere than
school. There are no boring academic classes, only fun, fun, fun! They are given the opportunity to participate
in all kinds of activities like crafts, swimming, go-carts, archery, ice cream shack, etc. Camp also helps
prevent loneliness, as most Selective Mutism kids are isolated during the summer with no friends. This gives
them an outlet to prevent the summer time blues.
